2004 Update: The U.S. Border Patrol is purchasing several "Hermes" drones to patrol the U.S. - Mexico border. The drone can fly up to 20 hours without re-fueling, and is capable of reading license plates, occupant identification, thermal imaging of vehicle contents and more from a high altitude.
